About Us

Seeds of Banko focuses on connecting gifted students in rural Banko with additional international opportunities and resources to advance their learning. Every week, there is a virtual meeting held by Daphne with the selected children in the program. These meetings discuss previous weeks, exchange cultures, focus on upcoming events and opportunities, and provide useful tips for studying and preparation for the classroom, graduation, and beyond. Some key projects that have been held include the purchase of tablets for over 30 children to use for educational purposes, transportation provision for children to leave the boarding school and visit their families in different regions in Ghana for the holidays, purchase of a printer at the secondary school to avoid needing to travel over an hour to a larger city to print out every test given, and most recently, a community service project which included cleaning of Banko’s Health Centre and discussing necessary steps the students must take for success. Some of Seeds of Banko’s upcoming projects include the installation of a new roof for the primary school and new desks to accommodate the number of students. At the secondary school, anticipated projects include building a gate for security reasons, a new roof for the school’s cafeteria to avoid leaks and eliminate unsanitary eating habits, and the replacement of the walkways within the school due to holes and cracks in the cement
